Advocate Spot-On for Very Large Dogs
Type: Broad-spectrum monthly spot-on for dogs combining imidacloprid (ectoparasiticide) and moxidectin (endectocide) for internal and external parasite control.
What It Treats
- Kills adult fleas for 4 weeks and helps manage flea allergy dermatitis (FAD).
- Treats and controls gastrointestinal roundworms and hookworms.
- Prevents heartworm disease with regular monthly use.
- Treats ear mites and biting lice.
- Indicated for sarcoptic mange; supports demodicosis protocols under veterinary supervision.
Strengths and Dosing
- Dogs 25–40 kg: Use one 4.0 ml pipette (typically labeled “extra‑large dog”).
- Dogs >40 kg: Use an appropriate combination of pipettes to achieve the recommended dose based on body weight.
- Minimum dosing targets: imidacloprid 10 mg/kg and moxidectin 2.5 mg/kg (achieved at 0.1 ml/kg with the dog formulation).
How to Apply
- Apply once monthly to the skin after parting the fur.
- For very large dogs, divide the dose into 3–4 spots along the back from the shoulders to the base of the tail to prevent run‑off and licking.
- Do not bathe immediately after application; allow the site to dry fully.
Use Notes
- For dogs from 7 weeks of age and of appropriate body weight for the selected pipette.
- Use only the dog‑labeled product; do not substitute cat pipettes for dogs.
- Treat all pets in the household with suitable products to reduce reinfestation pressure.
Precautions
- External use only; avoid oral ingestion and contact with eyes or broken skin.
- Consult a veterinarian before use in pregnant, lactating, sick, or debilitated dogs, or when heartworm status is unknown in endemic areas.
- In herding breeds and related crosses, prevent licking of the application sites.
