Apoquel (oclacitinib) Tablets for Dogs
Type: Prescription anti‑itch and anti‑inflammatory tablet for dogs with allergic dermatitis and atopic dermatitis.
Indications
- Control of pruritus associated with allergic dermatitis in dogs.
- Treatment of the clinical manifestations of atopic dermatitis in dogs.

Dosage and Administration
- Initial phase: 0.4–0.6 mg/kg orally twice daily for up to 14 days.
- Maintenance: 0.4–0.6 mg/kg orally once daily.
- Tablets may be given with or without food; available strengths: 3.6 mg, 5.4 mg, 16 mg (scored, divisible).
Onset and Benefits
- Rapid relief of itch with improvement typically within hours and sustained control with maintenance dosing.
- Targeted cytokine pathway inhibition to reduce itch and inflammation while enabling multimodal allergy management.
Use Restrictions
- For dogs at least 12 months of age and ≥3 kg body weight.

Precautions
- Oclacitinib modulates the immune system and may increase susceptibility to infections and potentially exacerbate neoplastic conditions; monitor during therapy.
- Investigate and manage underlying causes of allergic dermatitis (e.g., fleas, food, contact) and treat complicating infections.
