VETERINARY HPM® KJ3 Advanced Kidney & Joint Cat Food
VETERINARY HPM® KJ3 Advanced Kidney & Joint is a tasty dry cat food for adult and senior cats in the advanced stages of chronic kidney disease (IRIS classification stages 3 and 4), with or without osteoarthritis. It’s expertly adapted to support kidney function in chronic kidney disease, support the joints in the case of osteoarthritis and manage denutrition.
Nutritionally Adapted for Advanced Kidney Disease
This formula contains high fat and energy density to avoid denutrition, along with limited, high-quality proteins (30%) for cats with advanced kidney disease. The low protein level and careful choice of proteins restrict the production of uraemic toxins while preserving muscle mass. In osteoarthritis cases, it promotes healthy weight maintenance to reduce strain on joints.
Very Low in Phosphorus to Support Kidney Function
In advanced CKD, the kidneys struggle to filter excess phosphorus, which may worsen kidney damage. This food is restricted in protein, rich in omega-3 fatty acids, and very low in phosphorus (0.5%). It also contains chitosan to bind phosphorus and further reduce its absorption.
Joint Support in Osteoarthritis
Joint problems like osteoarthritis are common in older cats. VETERINARY HPM® KJ3 Advanced Kidney & Joint includes nutrients to maintain mobility and flexibility:
- Omega-3 fatty acids: Limit inflammation and slow joint cartilage breakdown.
- Egg shell membrane: Rich in collagen, glucosamine, and chondroitin for joint health.
- Chondroitin sulphate: Supports cartilage and joint lubrication.
- Chitosan: Optimises chondroitin absorption and binds phosphorus.
This diet is rich in high-quality animal ingredients and highly palatable. It can be fed alone or combined with VETERINARY HPM® KJ2 Kidney & Joint Wet mousse for variety.
